Pics e brief report from London concert at Cafe OTO

Cafe OTO‘s reputation is well-deserved. During the day it is a lovely place to have lunch and look for carefully selected music and books. During the night it becomes an informal spot where professionals in the music field, often musicians themselves, guarantee a performing and listening experience where the audience can enjoy music and silences as well. So I was very happy of my recital there in August, organized by a new curatorial label, The Hotel, run with passion and care by Henry Cyer and his colleagues, all young musicians and/or music lovers.

My all-Philip Corner programme was in fact connected to the release of a recording made by Corner same decades ago after watching a film by Stan Brakhage. Philip told me how much he admired him; the rec was an homage in gratitude for the inspiration he got after the screening. Brakhage unexpectedly answered back with a new film inspired by Corner’s recording! The Hotel took all this flourishing of works of art in their hands and made them available to the public.

Below some nice pics of the evening made by Tobias Bulman. In the first one you can see also Jess who graciously helped me in the performance of Corner’s Piano Works: A Movement for pianist and operator.
Thank you Henry, Jess and Tobias; long live The Hotel and all initiatives that as this one contribute to make the art field healthy and alive!
